Please have a look here for oak wood fitted on stairs with professionally manufactured bull noses. The stairs are solid wood 18mm thick planks glued and nailed to the existing stairs and stained dark oak with polyurethane Bona Mega ultra matt finish applied. If you prefer there can always be a runner aded but the result is brilliant in any aspect. Oak stairs are not necessarily expensive especially with this method where the existing staircase is covered with another layer of hardwood.
